Colposcopy
A colposcopy is a simple examination that allows the doctor to see the type of abnormality in your cervix and the area it covers. It also allows the doctor to determine whether you need treatment. The device used in colposcopy is called a colposcope and it basically works like a magnifying glass that helps the doctor take a closer look at the changes in your cervix. The colposcope does not enter the abdominal cavity or uterus during the procedure. While it is a painless procedure for most women, some women may experience some discomfort. Colposcopy can be safely performed during pregnancy and does not cause any problems with the birth of your baby or your ability to become pregnant again in the future.
